What is it?
The Vint Hill Transitional Housing Program (VHTH) is for low/ very-low income households. The program provides a disciplined one to two year program focused on employment, job advancement, budgeting and personal finance management. Heads of household will have committed to full-time employment and/ or a combination of employment and vocational training which is full-time as a condition of acceptance into the program. The levied program fee is 20% of gross household income per month of which 25% of the fee is held in escrow and returned at the conclusion of the program. Proper discharge of all the responsibilities described in a typical lease agreement is required of participating residents. Utilities are the responsibility of the residents.
Overview of the Program
The VHTH Program is an expansion and augmentation of the transitional program FFSS has operated continuously since 1994 in a single family residence located in Turnbull. This new program will feature expanded support services for program participants and mentoring.
The VHTH Program is intended to facilitate the movement of homeless households to permanent housing. FFSS provides supportive services, directly and by collaboration with other organizations, which are designed to help participants increase their skill levels, income levels, and to obtain greater self-determination.
What services are offered to program participants?
Services include case management and counseling/ training programs which stress employability/ employment issues, housing issues, financial management, and basic decision-making skills. Accountability is stressed; definitive performance measures are employed.
A Description of the VHTH
The Vint Hill site makes available a 24 townhouse complex situated in three 8 unit buildings. The townhouses are newly refurbished 3 bedroom, 1.5 bath townhouses approximately 1400 square feet in area located in a nice area with many present and developing amenities. The residences have been fully furnished through private donations and the hard work of our volunteers.
